Mentoring Membership & Ongoing Mentoring

Understand what ongoing mentoring offers and how it works.

A mentoring membership is a recurring mentoring format where you work regularly with a mentor – usually monthly. Instead of single conversations, you receive continuous support, feedback and strategic support. This model is particularly suitable for long-term goals such as career development, management responsibility or business building. You work not just on individual questions but on structured development over several months.

In ongoing mentoring, regular sessions take place, often 1–2 times per month. Between conversations, you take concrete steps while your mentor provides feedback, structure and new perspectives. Often there are also Q&A opportunities or brief check-ins between sessions. The goal is sustainable development rather than point-in-time advice.

It depends on your goal. For individual decisions – such as salary negotiations – one session is often enough. For career development, leadership building or start-ups, regular mentoring is usually more effective. A mentoring subscription creates structure and commitment. It ensures that progress is tracked over months.

Typical is 1–2 conversations per month. During intensive phases – such as before a promotion or funding round – additional appointments may make sense. More important than frequency is implementation between sessions. Mentoring is most effective when concrete steps are defined and tracked.

A good mentoring membership includes: Regular video sessions, Goal definition and progress tracking, Concrete action steps, Optional: Q&A or messaging between sessions. Transparency is crucial: clear structure, clear goals and clear expectations.

For sustainable development, 3–6 months is realistic. In this time, goals can be defined, strategies tested and progress made visible. Short-term goals can be achieved faster, but long-term career or leadership development requires continuity.

This depends on the specific model. Many mentoring offers work with monthly cancellation or clearly defined terms. It is important to check the conditions transparently before you begin. A flexible model allows you to adapt the mentoring to your situation.

Mentoring is based on trust and openness. If the collaboration doesn't work, you should speak openly about it. Sometimes adjusting goals or structure helps. If it still doesn't feel right, you can choose a different mentor. Many professionals consciously switch mentors depending on the development phase.
